Prevent thermal leaks with the right tape
Any professional in the building industry knows: an airtight building is only as strong as its weakest link. In- and exfiltration of air can greatly impact the quality of a build, leading to leaks or unwanted airflow. That’s why creating an air tight envelope is so important. In doing so, choosing the correct materials that are compatible with each other and meet relevant building codes and standards can be a challenge. Luckily, our air tight building tape meets emission standards like the French A+ and Emicode 1+, making it suitable for almost all building rules and regulations.
Rubber based tape for film or airtight foil
We offer several types of indoor duiblesided building tapes with a thick rubber based adhesive. This type of adhesive is especially suitable for irregular surfaces, and rubber based tapes are usually used to seal joints and seams in airtight construction. SMAC 17012G is a flexible tape for construction film made from plastic. It was specially developed to adhere to low energy surfaces. SMAC 17111B on the other hand is our non-woven construction tape, designed specifically for the roofing and façade industry. Lastly, there is our SMAC 5701 tape, which can be applied to rough and uneven surfaces like concrete, brick and wood, making it a great alternative to wet adhesives.
Acrylic based air tight building tape
Acrylic based tapes are ideal for outside use, thanks to their resistance to UV degradation and weather influences. Our air tight building tape A2129 is a more flexible, stronger version of traditional aluminium tape. It has a solvent based acrylic adhesive and a polypropylene reinforced aluminium layer. It can generally be used in combination with other aluminium materials, like isolation materials.

How to use tape for vapour barrier or construction film
Our air tight building tape doesn’t just prevent air from leaking into a build, it also forms a barrier against moisture and dirt. That’s why you should use our tape to seal vapour barrier film or air tight foil, adding an extra layer of protection. Multifoil’s air tight building tape is applied in just a few simple steps. Make sure that any surface you apply tape to is clean, dry and free of dust and debris. With our doublesided airtight tape you can adhere the membrane to the substrate, then use one of our outdoor or indoor building tapes to seal its edges and close any gaps or joints. Lastly, perform an air leakage test like a blower door test, to make sure that all areas are sealed effectively.
When using our air tight building tape, the most important thing is choosing a tape that is compatible with both the membrane you’re applying and the surface it should adhere to. Doubting whether one of our tapes will work for the application you have in mind? Make use of our 40 years of experience in adhesives, and simply ask our expert costumer service for advice.
