Curtain, slot die, zone and dot coating
There are different ways to coat a surface in order to create a stable bond. For instance, a curtain coating means that a uniform layer of coating is applied over an entire surface. Zone coating on the other hand means that only certain parts of a surface are covered with adhesives. This limits the amount of adhesive used and optimizes the production process. By using a slot die to apply a coating, a coating expert has complete control over the thickness of the coating.
Lastly, there is dot coating. This means that self-adhesive glue dots are placed in a precise, controlled pattern onto a surface. The benefit of dot coating is that it is customizable: the dots can be adjusted per inch. This makes this type of coating very versatile.
